The 12th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus, ADMM-Plus was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This year's meeting feted 15 years of the ADMM-Plus founding, and also marked the first participation of Timor-Leste as a full member of ASEAN. Brunei Darussalam's delegation to the 12th ADMM-Plus Ke-12 was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence.
Also present was Mohd Aizul Hakim bin Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi, Acting High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia. The Meeting observed an exchange of views on a “Reflection on 15 Years of ADMM-Plus and Charting the Way Forward", during which the ADMM-Plus leaders commended the significant progress of the ADMM-Plus.
The Ministers also reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to regional peace and stability, upheld through the enduring spirit of ASEAN Centrality. The Meeting further adopted the Joint Statement by the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus in Commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of the Founding of the ADMM-Plus. Also held was the ASEAN-Japan Defence Ministers' Informal Meeting.
The ASEAN-United States Defence Ministers' Hi-Tea Reception was also held, co-hosted by the Minister of Defence of Malaysia and the Secretary of War of the United States. Brunei Darussalam also held a brief meeting with Republic of Singapore to reaffirm the strong bilateral defence ties and cooperation between the two countries.
A handing-over ceremony of the ADMM Chairmanship from Malaysia to the Republic of the Philippines formally marked the conclusion of Malaysia's ADMM Chairmanship for 2025. The Republic of the Philippines will assume the role of Chair for ASEAN in 2026 with the theme 'Navigating Our Future Together'.
